My gimbal died mid-shoot at Papago Park and I fixed it with a hotel hair dryer
Two weeks ago I was filming a client's fitness promo at Papago Park in Phoenix and my gimbal just stopped balancing about 20 minutes in. The whole thing was drifting sideways and every clip looked like I was filming on a boat. I had no backup, the sun was going down in an hour, and the client was already warming up for their shots. Ran to a nearby hotel, borrowed a hair dryer from the front desk, and warmed the gimbal's sticky grease back to life in about 5 minutes. It worked the rest of the shoot, but now I keep a hand warmer in my bag for desert mornings. Anyone else run into cold or heat messing with their gear mid-job?
