Had to pick between a gimbal or a slider for desert shoots
I was shooting a client's real estate listing in Scottsdale last week and couldn't decide if I wanted smooth panning shots or that sliding dolly look. I went with the gimbal because I figured it's more versatile for hiking into the Superstitions, but the footage ended up feeling too floaty and not cinematic enough. Anyone else regret their gear choice when the Arizona sun starts beating down and you're stuck with what you brought?

Stuck the gimbal on a monopod and used it like a poor man's slider. Totally saved me in the heat last summer when I forgot my slider at home. Worked surprisingly well for those tracking shots along kitchen counters. Just crank the dampening way down and brace the pole against your belt.

500 yard hike in 110 degrees? @jade618 that monopod trick is genius but how do you keep the gimbal from overheating when you're out there that long? My Ronin shut down on me twice last summer, had to stuff it in a cooler for 10 minutes before I could keep shooting.
