Found out the hard way that Sedona filming permits cost $1,200 per day now

I was scoping out a spot near Cathedral Rock for a client shoot next month and called the ranger station to check. The lady on the phone said commercial permits jumped to $1,200 a day as of January. That's TRIPLE what it was two years ago. Anyone else run into this and find a workaround?

Called the Forest Service office in Flagstaff last week about a different spot and the guy there told me they're getting a lot of complaints about these new fees. He said the money is supposed to go toward trail maintenance and keeping things clean, but I'm not sure how that adds up when they're pricing out the little guys. My buddy shoots real estate photos up near Oak Creek Canyon and he just started putting his camera on a tripod and claiming he's there for personal use. Risky move if they catch on though.
