Watched a grad student pull a 1,900 year old coin out of a trench in Colchester and now I always grid before I dig
She found it because she bagged every scoop by square instead of tossing dirt on one pile, which I never bothered doing at my local site. Anyone else have a small habit that a real excavation changed for you?
