That dig in Arizona where my trowel hit a clay pot instead of dirt

Was out near Flagstaff in 2019, digging a test trench. Thought I hit a rock but it was a whole unbroken olla, now I got a 3 foot crack from the museum storage room.

Is it really that bad if a 3 foot crack means the museum has to actually put it back together instead of just letting it sit in storage? Seems like it was more interesting in the ground than it would be gathering dust on a shelf.

Yeah but @the_terry, the crack goes from the rim almost to the base. I heard about this guy in Santa Fe who dropped a pot he was cleaning and it basically turned into confetti. They pieced it back together but it looked like a jigsaw puzzle afterward. At least with a single crack you can stabilize it without making it look Frankensteined.
