Rant: Wish someone told me about soil screening years ago

Spent 3 seasons digging up pottery shards in Georgia with a trowel and spoon. Tried using a 1/4 inch hardware cloth screen last week and pulled out 50 fragments in 2 hours. Has anyone else found a tool that made their fieldwork way faster?

Did you try sifting with a 1/2 inch screen first to catch the bigger pieces?

Yeah I gotta say @webb.stella, I used to just go straight in with a smaller screen and fight with all the rocks and sticks. Tried that 1/2 inch screen on your suggestion and it makes a world of difference. Really speeds things up.
