Looters hit the site near Tel Rehov before we could finish mapping it

I was part of a survey crew in the northern Jordan Valley last month, and we came back after a weekend to find three trenches dug straight through a Bronze Age layer we had only started documenting. They took a few intact pots and left shattered sherds everywhere, which is worse than if they'd taken nothing. The local inspector said illegal digs have doubled since the metal detector ban got relaxed in 2023. Anyone else dealing with site security issues this season?
