Just realized those 'Viking' swords at the antique shop were total fakes
I've been collecting old weapons for years and always rolled my eyes at people buying reproduction Viking swords from that booth at the Reno flea market. Last weekend I finally took a close look at one with a magnet and a magnifying glass. The steel was way too uniform and the rivet heads were machine stamped with zero hand tool marks. Has anyone else gotten burned by trusting their gut on authenticity without actually checking the build quality?

Honestly I was the same way, always thought I could spot a fake by just looking at it. But after a buddy showed me how obvious the uniform steel was on his "vintage" axe I started actually checking things closer too.

Folding knives are even worse for fakes now, the clone game is insane.
