Just realized ancient bone studies prove our idea of natural fitness is totally wrong

I saw a report on Roman soldier skeletons and the damage from carrying heavy gear all day. Their spines were wrecked by their twenties, not some perfect workout plan. We hear about paleo diets and think ancient people were healthier, but archaeology shows constant hard labor caused early wear and tear. Look at Egyptian mummies with arthritis from repetitive tasks, why would anyone want that? Modern gym routines ignore how real physical stress actually harmed people back then. Shouldn't we focus on avoiding injury instead of chasing a tough image? The bones don't lie, but we keep missing the point.

Modern comfort makes us soft, not smart.

Gotta push back on that @harperc79. Have you seen people try to make rent lately?

But those injuries came from survival, not optional workouts. Our modern problems are from not moving enough at all.
