Got all pumped up finding a weird metal thing at a dig, turned out to be a pull tab from a soda can. Remember when those were everywhere? Now they're practically history.

My car's floor mats are basically a museum of those things. I definitely got excited over a "silver coin" last year that was just a tab half-buried in a parking lot.

Funny how stuff like that just vanishes, like @taraw47 finding them in the floor mats. You see it with payphones or specific plastic toys too. Whole chunks of normal life just quietly retire.

Those tabs were the default litter everywhere for ages. Finding one now feels like uncovering a tiny artifact from a different world.
