Warning: Cutting a girdling root on a 40-year-old sugar maple in Dayton got me more new growth than I expected
I went back and forth for a month on whether to cut it, then finally did it with a chisel and mallet, and six weeks later the crown is pushing shoots I have not seen in 4 seasons. Anyone else get surprised by how fast a tree answers back after you fix the real problem?
