Update on that struggling oak in my neighbor's yard

It's been a full season since we did a deep root feed and proper mulch ring, and the canopy is finally filling back in. Anyone else had a tree take that long to show improvement after stress?

Deep root feeding saved a maple of mine, too.

Glad your tree pulled through, but deep root feeding is often a waste of money for a stressed tree. The science shows most feeder roots are in the top foot of soil, so just surface-applied fertilizer and proper watering usually does the same job. Companies push the deep injection because they can charge a premium for the service. Save your cash next time and focus on the basics.

Oh man, that's awesome to hear. I had a birch that looked rough for almost two years after some construction damage before it really turned around, so a full season doesn't seem crazy to me. I get what @mark_fisher48 is saying about the basics being key, and I did all that too, but for my tree the deep feed felt like the extra boost it needed. Maybe it was just the specific spot or the soil type here. Either way, seeing the leaves come back is the best feeling.
