Rigging with a Porta Wrap vs a GRCS on a tight job site in Portland

Last month we had to take down a big Douglas fir in a backyard with zero room for error. I used a Porta Wrap on a 4 inch stem and it worked fine for the first few picks, but the friction heat buildup made me nervous. Switched to a GRCS for the heavier limbs and that brake control was night and day. Has anyone else found the GRCS worth the extra setup time on cramped residential jobs?
