Finally tried a Silky saw after years using a cheap Corona and WOW what a difference
I've been using the same $20 Corona folding saw for like 5 years. Thought all hand saws were basically the same. Last week my buddy let me borrow his Silky Zubat for a dead oak branch that was wedged tight. Cut through that 8 inch limb in like 15 seconds flat. My Corona would have taken 2 minutes of wrestling. The teeth just grab and pull instead of bouncing around. Is the Silky really worth 4x the price for regular use or did I just get lucky with a fresh blade?

The Silky keeps that bite for way longer since the teeth are impulse hardened, so it's not just a fresh blade thing. For regular yard work or pruning, the extra cost pays off because you're not fighting the saw every cut. Grab a Silky Big Boy 360 if you want a happy medium between price and performance, lol.

The impulse hardening is seriously underrated by people who haven't used one. My Big Boy 360 is two years old now and I've used it on some nasty stuff and it still cuts like it's brand new out of the box. Most other saws I've owned start dragging after a few months and you're stuck sharpening or replacing blades. Plus that ergonomic handle makes a huge difference when you're cutting for hours on end. Silky figured out the whole package, not just the blade.
