Controversial take: I think pruning oaks in summer is fine if you know what you're doing
Went to a job site in Austin last June and the homeowner was freaking out because a tree service refused to touch their live oaks in the heat. I get the whole oak wilt fear, but in 15 years I've never seen a case traced back to a clean cut with proper sealant. We've got drought stress killing more trees than any fungus around here. Anyone else think the summer pruning ban is overblown for healthy trees?

Nah, that sealant trick gives false confidence, and one wrong cut spreads wilt through whole neighborhoods.
