That Tuesday where every dryer door hinge cursed me
What finally saved me was calling an older tech I know in Akron who said to always carry a hinge repair kit with the metal reinforcement plates, not just the plastic replacements. I had one in my truck the whole time, just never thought to use it because I was stuck in my usual routine. Cost me about 40 bucks a few years ago and it paid for itself a hundred times over just that afternoon. The kit has these thin steel brackets that go behind the plastic and give the screws something real to bite into.\n\nSince then I keep two kits in my truck and one in my basement shop. The third dryer took me twenty minutes once I stopped trying to make the factory parts work. Still, that morning before I figured it out, I almost told the homeowner she needed a new dryer when she really just needed a 12 dollar bracket. How often do you guys carry aftermarket repair parts vs sticking to original stuff on older machines?
