That aftermarket control board I installed started smoking after 3 weeks

Put in a third party board on a Whirlpool dryer in Phoenix and it literally started smoking during a test run last Tuesday. Has anyone else had these knockoffs fail way faster than they save you money?

Probably not that big a deal - some smoke on first run doesn't always mean a total failure. If it still works and the smell went away, might just be dust or manufacturing residue burning off.

@robinl90 I gotta disagree on it being no big deal. A buddy of mine put a cheap board in his Maytag and three weeks later the whole thing caught fire on a load of towels. Smoke is never just dust.
