Swapped a compressor on a 20 year old Whirlpool fridge last Tuesday and it hit different
I mean, back in the day those things were built like tanks, you could swap a part and move on. This one had a pinhole leak in the evap coil too, so now I'm wondering how many of these old units are actually worth saving anymore. Has anyone else run into whole systems just failing at once lately?

A pinhole leak in the evap coil on top of a bad compressor, oh that's just brutal.

It's like everything's got a shorter shelf life these days. You can't just fix one thing and expect the rest to hold up. Seems like the whole appliance industry moved away from building stuff to last, and now we're all stuck picking between repairs that cost half the price of a new unit. At what point does it just make more sense to junk the whole thing and start fresh?
