Spent a whole morning chasing a phantom leak in an ice machine
Turns out the water filter housing had a hairline crack I couldn't see until I took the whole damn thing apart. Took me 4 hours to find a $12 part - has anyone else dealt with a crack that small that was impossible to spot?

Yeah, a backlight trick is solid, but try dye in the water next time, makes those hairline cracks glow like neon.

Did you check the housing with a flashlight from behind while it was empty? Sometimes those thin cracks only show up when you put pressure on the seal or hit it with light at the right angle. Was the crack near the threads where the filter screws in or somewhere on the side wall?
