Rant: I tried cleaning a dryer vent with a leaf blower and it backfired

The pressure from my Stihl BR 600 blew a bunch of lint and dust back into the laundry room, coating everything. I learned the hard way that a proper vent cleaning kit with a brush is the only way to go. Anyone have a good method for cleaning up a huge mess like that?

Oh man, I totally disagree. That leaf blower move is a classic for a reason. Sure, you gotta be smarter about it. You don't just blast it from inside. You take the outside vent cover off first, seal a big trash bag around the vent pipe outside with duct tape, then let your buddy hit it from the laundry room. All the junk shoots right into the bag. Did it last fall and it was shockingly clean. A brush kit is fine, but sometimes you just gotta work with the big tools you already own.

My old apartment in Columbus had dryer vents that got clogged every year like clockwork. Your trash bag trick is solid, but I'd add wearing a mask because that dust cloud is nasty even from outside. Honestly the leaf blower method works way faster than those flimsy brush kits, you just gotta prep right. Last time I did it, my neighbor thought I was crazy until his lint fire happened a week later lol.
