Pro tip: Swapping out just the start capacitor before the whole motor saved me 45 minutes on a dryer call
I used to always replace the whole motor when a dryer wouldn't spin. But last Tuesday I had a Kenmore model 110 that was humming but not turning. I checked the capacitor with my multimeter first and it was dead. Swapped in a new one for like 8 bucks and the thing fired right up. Now I always test that part before tearing down the whole motor assembly. Any of you guys do the capacitor test first or still go straight for the motor swap?

Swapping out just the start capacitor" - until it fails again next month, then you're back doing it twice.

Blow that out of proportion. Sometimes a cap swap gets you years more life if the motor's still good and your power's clean.
