Old timer told me once to always check the drain pump filter first on a washing machine that won't spin

Spent 45 minutes diagnosing a control board issue on a 2018 Samsung last Tuesday before I remembered his advice, pulled the filter, and found a bobby pin and $3.87 in change blocking everything.

Follow the simplest fix first every single time. My dad used to tell me "check the obvious stuff before you start tearing things apart" and it applies to everything from cars to computers to my stupid smart thermostat that kept rebooting last week just needed a battery swap. That same rule has saved me hours on a lawn mower that wouldn't start (loose spark plug wire) and a printer that kept jamming (a crumpled receipt in the back roller). People always wanna jump straight to the complicated expensive stuff when the easy cheap fix is staring them right in the face.

I think I've replaced more batteries in weird places than I'd like to admit. Always the simple stuff.
