Had an old lady pay me in homemade cookies instead of cash last Tuesday

I was fixing her 20 year old fridge compressor in Akron and she insisted on paying me with a check but then pulled out a plate of chocolate chip cookies. She said her husband always paid his debts with those cookies before he passed. Has anyone else gotten weird non-cash payments that actually turned out better than money?

Yeah I used to hate getting paid in stuff but cookies hit different.

Right, because the bar for professional payment is so low now that a handful of sugar and butter is a win. I'm just waiting for someone to try and pay their rent with a batch of snickerdoodles. "Sorry landlord, I'm short on cash this month, but here's a dozen oatmeal raisin, take it or leave it." At least with cookies you can eat your losses, literally. Better than getting paid in "exposure" or a gift card to a restaurant that closed last year. I guess we're all just one cookie away from feeling like we made it in this economy.
