Finally tried a compressor-driven fridge instead of that absorption unit in my camper van and it chilled drinks in under 10 minutes flat, why did I wait 2 years for this

I was up in Flagstaff last summer fighting with that propane fridge that couldn't keep ice cream solid above 80 degrees, swapped it out for a 12V compressor model off Amazon for $450 and now I actually trust my food won't spoil on long trips, anyone else swear by compressor units over absorption?

Chilled drinks in under 10 minutes flat" is the exact reason I swapped mine. Went with a Dometic CFX and never looked back. That old absorption fridge was useless in the heat.

Chilled drinks in under 10 minutes flat" reminds me of my friend Dave. He had an old RV with one of those absorption fridges and we took a trip to the desert last summer. That thing couldn't keep a bottle of water cold, let alone beer. He finally broke down and got a Dometic CFX after we spent a whole afternoon drinking warm soda. Next trip out, he had ice cream in there that was still frozen solid when we got home. He still talks about how fast it cools things down compared to that old junk.
