compressor swap on a 12 year old fridge, now its freezing everything solid

Took on a side by side in Denver, swapped the compressor and filter drier after a burn out. Pulled a deep vacuum and weighed in the charge exactly per the tag. But now the freezer is sitting at -15 and the fridge section is at 28, way too cold. Ran the gauges and pressures look fine, suction line is sweating like crazy though. Could the TXV be stuck open from the burn out debris even after I blew out the lines with nitrogen? Has anyone dealt with a floodback issue after a compressor replacement and what did you end up doing?

The 28 degrees in the fresh food section is the giveaway for me. That's not a stuck open TXV, that's a system that's way overcharged or the condenser fan is moving too much air. Suction line sweating like crazy and pressures "fine" doesn't add up unless you're reading the gauges wrong or the ambient temp in Denver is throwing you off. I'd double check that you actually weighed in the charge after the vacuum, cause 12 year old fridges sometimes have a smaller charge than the tag says if the previous guy topped it off with a blend. Blowing out the lines with nitrogen after a burnout is good, but if the TXV was toast it'd be starving the evap, not flooding it. My bet is the orifice or the metering device is fine and you've got a bad seal on the freezer door letting warm air in, which makes the unit run longer and freeze everything. Check the defrost heater too, if that's stuck on it can mess with the temp split.
