Vent: A friend told me to skip the first 12 episodes of a show and I'm still not sure it was right
We were at a cafe in Denver last week, and I mentioned I was starting a popular series. My friend said, 'Just skip the first dozen episodes, they're all filler.' I did it, and while I got to the main story faster, I felt lost on some character stuff. Now I'm thinking about going back to watch what I missed. Has anyone else been told to skip a big chunk of a show and regretted it later?

Skip the first DOZEN episodes? That's like a whole season, man. No wonder you felt lost.

Oh man, a dozen episodes? That's literally the first season of a lot of shows. You're basically telling someone to skip the whole foundation and then wondering why the house is falling down. That's just terrible advice all around.

Ugh, right? Who even gives that kind of advice? It's like telling someone to skip the first four chapters of a book and then being shocked they don't know who the main character is. You miss all the setup, the little jokes that come back later, how the characters even met. No wonder the plot made zero sense.
