Update: watched Frieren subbed then dubbed, and the dub won me over
I did a rewatch of Frieren over two weeks, first the subs then the dub, and the dub fit the quiet moments way better. The voice for Frieren in English lands the dry jokes in a way the subtitle timing never quite got across for me. By episode 12 I stopped noticing the dub at all, which is the highest praise I can give a dub. Curious if anyone else went back and forth on this show, and which version stuck with you.
