Update: My local anime club's discussion about 'Vinland Saga' season 2 got super heated last Thursday.

We spent over an hour just on the farm arc's pacing, and the moderator had to step in when two members nearly started yelling about whether Thorfinn's character development was earned or just boring.

Sounds like your club needs a chill pill more than Thorfinn does. Lucas972 gets it, the whole point is watching a broken guy learn to plant beans instead of planting axes in people. Some folks just want a viking smash cut every five minutes and can't handle a story that makes you think.

Yeah that deeper split is totally real. It's like some people only watch for the big fights and cool animation. They see Thorfinn just working in a field and think nothing is happening. But the whole point is his inner war, trying to find a reason to live after being so broken. If you skip that quiet build up, the payoff later just won't hit the same way.
