That time I spent 2 years watching dubs before a friend called me out
I was sitting in my buddy's basement last summer watching My Hero Academia with his crew. We got to a fight scene and I made a comment about the voice acting sounding off. He just stared at me and asked if I was watching the dub. I said yeah, that's normal right? He told me I was missing half the emotion and intensity the original actors put in. So I went home that night, switched to the sub on episode 1, and honestly felt like an idiot for not trying it sooner. Anyone else go through a long dub phase before switching?

Missing half the emotion" is a stretch, I still think dubs can hit just as hard.

@kai779 here's something wild - think about how the original voice actors on set feed off each other's energy in the booth. dubs lose that back and forth spark because they record lines separately most times. not saying one is better, but that raw interaction is missing for sure.
