That scene in Gurren Lagann where Simon starts crying just ruined the whole mood for me
I was watching episode 8 at my buddy's place last weekend and that whole breakdown scene felt forced. Simon went from determined to sobbing in 10 seconds flat with no build up. Am I the only one who thinks that moment killed the momentum of the show?

Episode 8 is actually the first time we see Simon realize that Kamina's bravado wasn't just for show - it was a shield for his own doubts too. When Kamina died in episode 7, Simon lost the one person who made him believe he could be strong without faking it. The crying wasn't weak, it was him finally understanding what his brother had been hiding from him all along.

Episode 8 felt like a total bait and switch to me. I was yelling at the screen because he just crumbled out of nowhere with zero warning. A character that strong suddenly bawling like that made the whole episode feel backwards.
