That 3 AM forum thread about filler episodes got me second guessing myself

Was up till 4 AM last night arguing with some random user in a Bleach rewatch thread who said filler arcs are the reason the anime medium is dying, and they made me realize I only skip filler to feel productive, not because I actually dislike it. They said I was basically speedrunning through the story like it was a chore, and honestly that hit hard since I binged all of One Piece in 5 months skipping every non-canon arc. Anyone else ever realize they were treating anime like a checklist instead of something to enjoy?

Took me 3 years to admit I skipped every Skypeia flashback in One Piece just so I could catch up to Wano faster. Now I go back and rewatch those eps when I actually wanna chill, and it's a whole different show.
