Spent 4 hours arguing about One Piece filler arcs and got nowhere
Ngl I tried to explain why the G-8 filler arc is actually worth watching to someone who skips all filler, and they just kept saying 'but it's not canon' for 45 minutes straight. Has anyone actually gotten through to a filler-hater without losing your mind?

they just kept saying 'but it's not canon' for 45 minutes straight" is the most relatable thing I've read all week. I had a friend who would literally cover his ears if I brought up the G-8 arc. Like, he physically stopped listening. Here's my question though: do these people think filler is just random noise, or do they genuinely believe nothing good can come from something that doesn't advance the main plot? Because I swear some of them act like it's a moral failing to enjoy a non-canon episode. Makes me wonder if they even like the show at all, or if they're just checking boxes on a to-do list.

The whole "it's not canon" wall is exhausting, and yeah, @ross.jessica, some of those people act like skipping filler is some kind of badge of honor. I get it, if you're trying to speedrun the story, fine, but G-8 is genuinely good TV regardless. That said, I don't think it's that deep either - you can just watch what you want and let them miss out.
