So my little cousin made me rethink the whole 'dub vs sub' debate

My cousin, he's 11, was over last week watching Demon Slayer on my TV. I put the English dub on like I always do and he just stares at me and goes 'why do they sound like they're reading from a menu?' I laughed at first but then I couldn't unhear it. He popped the sub on and suddenly the emotions just hit different, you know? Has anyone else had a kid just casually wreck your whole anime watching habit like that?

Kid's got good instincts. Subs just hit different for the emotional stuff.

Right? There's something about hearing the actual emotion in someone's voice that just lands harder than reading text. Caught myself almost tearing up at a random fan sub the other day lmao.
