Rant: My entire anime watchlist spreadsheet got corrupted last night!
I was updating it with some new seasonal shows and the file just stopped opening. Has anyone else had this happen and know a good way to recover the data?

Check if you have a backup copy in your cloud drive's trash folder or a previous version. What program were you using, and did you save it as a .csv or a .xlsx file? Sometimes you can open a corrupted file with a text editor to pull the raw data out if it's not totally gone.

Ever have that sick feeling when a file just vanishes? My buddy lost a whole client list last month. He was in a panic, but then he did exactly what @michaeladams said and checked the cloud trash. It was sitting right there, a week-old version. He had to redo a few hours of work, but it saved his skin. Opening a messed up file in a basic text editor is a solid last ditch move too, it can show you the raw numbers even if the formatting is trashed. That trick got him most of the data back before he found the backup.

Cloud trash is the first place I look, not a last resort.
