I just spent $80 on a 'complete' anime box set that was a total scam

Found it online last week, and the pictures showed a nice case with all the discs. It arrived today, and it's just a cheap plastic shell with burned DVDs (you know, the kind you make at home). The video quality is so bad it looks like someone filmed their TV screen. I feel like a real fool for not checking the seller's reviews more carefully. Has anyone else gotten tricked by a fake physical release like this?

Man that sucks, my friend got hit with something just like that. He bought a movie set that was supposed to be a special release, and it was just a bunch of blank discs in a paper sleeve, lol. It's crazy what people try to sell. @miller.susan is right about being paranoid now, it makes you not want to trust any listing. My friend never got his money back either because the seller just vanished.

Ugh that's the worst feeling. Did you try to get your money back? I got burned on a "limited edition" Gundam set a few years back. The box looked legit in the photos but the discs were all scratched and the subs were just plain wrong, like google translate bad. It's so frustrating because you get excited for a physical copy. Now I'm paranoid and only buy from like two big sites.
