I always skipped filler, but one arc changed my mind

For the longest time, I skipped every filler episode in anime. I thought they were just boring side stories. Then I watched the 'G-8' arc in One Piece, and it was actually really fun. It had great jokes and showed the crew in a new light. Now I give fillers a chance before I decide to skip. What do you all think about filler episodes? Do you watch them or avoid them?

Watched a Dragon Ball Z filler episode that honestly had better fights than the main story.

Seriously, some of those filler fights are legit great. I watched a video that broke down why they work so well. The fights are shorter and more focused since they don't have to drag on for episodes. The animators could just go all out on cool choreography without worrying about the big story. It makes total sense when you see it like that. The Garlic Junior saga had some surprisingly good moments.
