Hot take: My friend told me to skip the first 20 episodes of One Piece
He said the Arlong Park arc was the only real starting point and everything before was filler. I tried it, and honestly, I had no idea who anyone was or why I should care when they started crying. It completely ruined the emotional payoff. Has anyone else tried starting a show in the 'wrong' place because of bad advice?

Skipping 20 eps of One Piece is wild. It's not that deep, you just missed the setup. Your friend gave you the worst possible advice.

Honestly, skipping filler is one thing, but skipping canon episodes is a different kind of crime. Mitchell.wade is right, you basically cut out a whole mini-arc of character moments. That friend owes you a rewatch and some snacks.
