Finally got why people love One Piece after 200 episodes

I ALWAYS thought One Piece was way too long and just a silly pirate show. But last week I read a breakdown on Reddit about how Oda planned the whole story from chapter 1. Someone pointed out a detail from episode 5 that connects to something that happens 150 episodes later. That kind of long term planning just blew my mind. Now I can't stop watching and I'm only on episode 215. Has anyone else had a show click for them way later than expected?

Isn't it wild how one little reddit post can flip your whole view on a show like that? I used to roll my eyes at the length too but now I get why people defend it so hard.
