Dub haters made me watch subbed and now I can't go back

I used to defend dubs hard, especially for battle shonen where I could multitask while watching. Then my buddy in Tampa made me sit through one arc of a show with subs only, no skipping. The voice acting had way more emotion, like the screaming matches actually felt raw instead of polished. Now I have a backlog of 14 subbed series and my dubbed collection just sits there. Anyone else switch sides this late in the game?

Man, that Tampa buddy did you dirty in the best way possible. I had the exact same flip like five years ago and it wrecked my whole anime habit. The thing is, once you hear a subbed performance that actually lands, the dubbed version starts feeling like a radio play with training wheels. But here's my real question: are you actually enjoying the subs more, or is it just that you can't unhear the difference now? Because I noticed my switch was less about "better" and more about "I finally get why people get hype over certain scenes." And honestly, that 14 series backlog is just the start. You're gonna start rewatching old favorites in sub just to see what you missed the first time around.

Wait, does that mean I gotta go back and rewatch all the classics just to make sure I didn't miss something? Because that's honestly kind of terrifying, I thought I was done with that phase.
