Can we stop pretending every anime with a tournament arc is automatically a 10/10?

I was scrolling through MyAnimeList last night and saw someone gave a show a 9 just because it had a tournament. The fights were badly animated, the characters were flat, and half the episodes were filler. It felt like they just checked a box. I've been watching anime for like 15 years now and tournaments can be great but they aren't a free pass to skip actual storytelling. Anyone else feel like people overhype stuff just because it fits a formula?

Just filter out anything below a 7.0 on MAL and stop caring what strangers think.

Yeah I saw this thing on YouTube about how MAL ratings are mostly just fanbases brigading each other anyway. @lee_barnes70 I think you're on to something with filtering by score, but I've heard the difference between a 6.9 and a 7.1 is basically just luck of the draw on who votes first. So I just check the synopsis and a couple reviews instead, that's been working better for me.
