Anime style in street art got my friends chatting for hours
I saw a mural downtown that totally copied a famous anime scene. It made me think back when only hardcore fans would spot stuff like that. Now, my whole group ended up debating which series did it better. That kind of easy talk is everywhere now, and I love it. Feels like our hobby is just part of normal life!

Man, it hits different when a reference goes from secret handshake to common knowledge... like remembering how you found a tiny bands early demo before they blew up. That weird pride mixes with feeling your special thing got taken away, even though it's silly.

Yeah I get that mix of feelings lol. What worked for me was just leaning into it, like when my normie friends ask about a reference. I'll throw out a cool fact about the scene or the director, something they wouldn't know. It turns that "taken" feeling back into sharing something you actually love.
