Went to a new construction site in Phoenix and it changed my mind about wireless panels

I've always been a hardliner for hardwired systems. But I was out at this new subdivision off the 101 last week and saw a crew running a full Qolsys setup. No conduit runs, no fishing wires through finished walls. They had the whole house done in like 4 hours. I mean, the builder said they saved $600 per house on labor alone. Has anyone else switched over for new builds or am I late to the party?

That "saved $600 per house on labor" line got me. I've been doing residential for about 8 years and switched over to wireless about 2 years ago for new builds. The trick is you gotta plan the sensor placements BEFORE the drywall goes up, otherwise you're stuck with ugly surface mount stuff. Also make sure your trim crew knows not to staple over your panel wires cause I've had to go back and redo that mess. For service work I still prefer hardwired but for new construction the speed is hard to argue with.

Drove past one of those new subdivisions last month and saw a crew running wire through the attic like they were setting up a Christmas light display. Made me wonder how many of those saved $600 turned into service call headaches later.
