That moment a bad wire splice cost me 4 hours in Albany
I was doing a retrofit at this old bank building off Route 20 in Albany last month. Had a motion detector showing intermittent faults on the panel, and I spent half a day chasing ghosts before I found a nasty splice hidden behind a dropped ceiling tile. The previous installer had just twisted wires together with no wire nuts or tape. Has anyone else run into shoddy work from a past crew that made you rethink your whole approach to checking every connection?

Wait, no wire nuts or tape at all? That's asking for a fire or shorts down the line. I always give a second look at any junction box now after pulling my hair out over someone else's shortcuts.

Right? Some people treat a junction box like a temporary holding cell. Just asking for trouble later on.
