Old timer in Detroit showed me this trick with door magnets
Guy had been installing since the 80s, told me to put a tiny piece of tape on the magnet face so it doesn't stick so hard to the contact - stops false alarms when doors slam shut. Has anyone else tried this or is it just an old school thing?

Tape on the magnet is just asking for trouble later.

Tape degrades over time, so the real fix is a dab of super glue or a tiny screw if the magnet's loose. Once that tape hardens or peels, you're back to false alarms anyway.

Used to hate on this trick but I tried it last month and it actually stopped our false alarms.
