DSC panel in my truck vs the cloud app, local wins every time

Had a customer in Tulsa who insisted we swap his DSC PowerSeries for a full Wi-Fi setup so he could check cameras from his phone. Three weeks of dropouts and a false alarm that got him fined $150 later, he asked me to put the old panel back. The app told him the door was closed when it was open, and that's a hard sell after you get a police visit at 2 AM. Anyone else deal with customers who think newer always means better where radio signals are the problem?

Read a study a while back that showed most people blame the tech when really it's the install environment that's the problem. WiFi and cellular just aren't built for thick concrete walls and metal siding, which half the homes around here have. The cloud apps are great until the network hiccups, then you're blind at the worst possible moment. Local panels have been doing this job for decades without needing a router reboot every Tuesday. That $150 fine probably paid for a few beers to help the customer admit the old gear wasn't so bad after all.
