Can we talk about wireless sensors failing in cold weather?

I was a hard no on wireless sensors for years. Stuck with hardwired everything. Then I did a cabin install up near Lake Tahoe last winter. Temp dropped to 15 degrees and three of the four wireless motion sensors quit. Customer was pissed. Had to swap them out with wired ones anyway. Anybody else see wireless junk out in real cold?

Yeah, "three of the four wireless motion sensors quit" sounds about right. Cold drains normal alkaline batteries fast, but the bigger issue is the radio components themselves just don't handle freezing temps well. Next time try lithium batteries first, it buys you a few more degrees before they drop out completely.
