Appreciation post: That Thursday I only needed two trips to the hardware store
Had a job last month putting in a full Honeywell Vista system at a 3-story house in Denver. Usually I make like 4 trips cause I forget something small. But that day I had my checklist laid out on the truck dash and actually checked it. Only went back once for a pack of resistors. Felt like a superpower. Anyone else have a day where the prep work just paid off?

A checklist on the dash is rookie stuff, real pros just memorize the parts list in their head. Also, pretty sure Vista systems don't use resistors in the panels unless you're adding end-of-line supervision where it's not needed.

@simon_chen yeah some of us have brains that actually work for memorizing stuff, congrats on that. I feel you though on the checklist thing. For my last job I did a full keypad swap on an older DSC system and I laid out every screw and wire nut on a towel before I even touched the panel. Took me an extra 5 minutes but saved me from driving back to the van for a 14 gauge connector. The prep work is boring but it's the kind of boring that pays off when you're elbow deep in a tight panel and you don't have to wipe your hands to dig for a resistor you forgot.
