A homeowner in Dayton said my wire runs looked like a toddler's scribble
I was finishing up a panel install last Tuesday, feeling pretty good about it. The guy just stood there, pointed at the bundle coming out of the wall, and said, 'Son, that looks like a toddler got into a box of spaghetti.' It stung a bit, honestly. So now I've started using a cheap plastic comb from the dollar store to group and straighten the wires before I zip-tie them. It adds maybe five minutes to the job, but the difference is huge. Anyone else have a weird little trick for making your installs look cleaner?

Oh man, that "box of spaghetti" comment hits close to home. Someone told me my work looked like a "rat's nest" once and I never forgot it. That cardboard loom idea is pretty smart, I might have to try that instead of my comb. And yeah @joel536 is right, you start noticing these little tricks everywhere once you see one. It's funny how something so small makes the whole job look way more professional.

That dollar store comb trick is actually genius. I saw a guy once who used a piece of cardboard with notches cut out, like a mini loom, to space his wires perfectly before he clamped the conduit. It's those little five minute things that change a job from looking rough to looking pro. Makes me wonder what other trades have these weird little hacks.
