Took me 5 years to figure out I was torquing lug nuts wrong on Gulfstreams
I always thought you just torque the lug nuts in a circle pattern until a lead mechanic at our Miami hangar stopped me and showed me the cross-pattern the manual actually calls for. Turns out I had been putting uneven stress on the wheel bolts for half a decade without realizing it. Anyone else have a "moment" where a simple habit turned out to be the wrong way all along?

Did you read that recent article about how most mechanics are actually over-torquing by like 30 percent?

Over-torquing is just like over-salting food, everybody thinks more is better.
