Pneumatic squeezer beats a hand rivet gun every single time
Everyone told me to practice with the hand gun before I bought a squeezer, but after an hour of tackling a wing skin with the hand gun I borrowed a CP-214 and finished the whole row of rivets in 20 minutes with no smileys. Unless you're doing one-off repairs in a tight spot, put the hand gun down. What's the smallest job where you still grab the squeezer over a bucking bar?
The real question isnt job size, its rivet count and access. A squeezer only wins when you can actually get the yoke on the rivet, and thats the part everyone skips over. Five rivets in a spot where a yoke fits? Grab the squeezer. One rivet buried behind a rib where no yoke will reach? Hand gun and bucking bar all day. People act like the squeezer is always faster, but swapping yokes and messing with air pressure eats the time savings if its only a couple rivets.
